Makeup In The Workplace and Reasons Why I Wear It!

This post is sort of gonna be a rant about a couple of things that have been bugging me lately and I want to share it with you all so that I can get some feedback because I cannot be the only one that feels this way.

Let me just begin by saying I am not bashing the company I work for (I'm a concession) but rather a well known department store in the UK.
I've worked for this particular department store in the past and I can honestly say I hated it, not only do they operate in an old-fashioned manner but they also pick on you on a personal level.

Recently a girl I work with had to swap to said store for a little while to cover someones shifts but on her return I found out that the floor managment had said that they wouldn't want her over again as she was not to their standard.
By this they mean she didn't dress smart enough for them and didn't wear enough make-up however the store she works in normally as no problem with her, she's not scruffy and does wear makeup but likes it to look as natural as possible, basically she doesn't look like your typical cosmetic counter girl.
I had the exact same problem when I worked for them a few years back, I'd had a Microdermabrasion treatment done and couldn't wear anything on my face for a couple of days cause my skin was so dry it was flaking off and they reported me to managment, shortly after that I got moved to another deparment store.

If you think that's bad then try and get you head around this one.

One of the othere girls who used to work there (funny how they all get sent to us in the end) got told off for wearing too much makeup and that she should tone it down.

Hand on a second, first your not wearing enough then your wearing to much, make you minds up people!
It's up to the individual how much makeup they want to wear and as long as they look tidy and presentable it shouldn't be an issue.

I've lost count how many times I've walked into the cosmetic section of a department store and seen certain sales assistant caked in so much badly applied make-up you could scrape it off and build an house, rather than make me buy something it makes me run a mile.
Those type of sales assistants are also usually the ones who look at you as if to say "you can't afford none of this shit, what are you doing in here" just because you dressed down for the day.
Painting your face like a clown does not make you sell more because if your bitch to me I'm buying nothing from you and I'm going elsewere, I could't give shit what you look like, I'd much rather spend my money with the girl who's makeup-less but friendly and helpfull.

Now I'm not saying I hate people who wear loads of make-up because I don't, I wear quite a lot myself even on a "bare" day but it's well applied and done for my benefit only.
This brings me to my second issue of why people feel the need to ask me if I'm trying to impress someone on the days were I'm wearing a stronger look.
I've literally lost count of how many times I've had stupid comments or questions relating to a particular look I've done on myself that morning.

Couple of examples:

Example number 1 - A nice lady who hadn't seen me in a while had the following conversation with me.
Nice Lady: Don't you look pretty today, who are you trying to impress?
Me: (blank confused stare) I'm sorry what do you mean?
Nice Lady: Girls only put that much make up on if they are trying to impress a man.
Me: Actually no, there's no one, I just felt like wearing my makeup this way today.
I then had to explain repetedly to the lady how I happened to have had more time that morning and how my makeup varies with my mood and that it had nothing to do with me trying to impress a bloke but I still don't think she belived me.

Example number 2 - This is probably the stupidest one but also the one I get the most of and that would be the red lipstick. I can guarantee every single time I wear red lipstick someone will question me if I'm doing it to impress a man and not because I simply felt like it, not to mention the amount of times certain customers have felt the need to mutter the words "slut" or "slapper" under their breath.

I do my makeup for ME!! No one else, I couldn't care less what people think and if they don't approve what I'm wear I really couldn't care less.
I still cannot believe there are women out there who do feel the need to wear makeup in order to impress a man or to compete with each other on who's the prettiest and it kind of saddens me that they are so insecure about the way they look.

Please comment and let me know what all your thoughts on the subject.

Twilight Saga New Moon - My Thoughts on the Movie

SPOILER ALERT!!!

I've really been looking forward to watching New Moon and finally got a chance to do so tonight and now that I have I'm a little disappointed.

Don't get me wrong I don't hate it but it just felt a little bit amateur, parts of it were clumsily done and I don't feel the director brought out the best in the actors.
In parts it was extremely cheesy (Alice's vision of Bella turning into a vampire for example) and a found myself, and most of the other viewers giggling at parts that were not meant to be funny.

Special effect were mixed, while the parts with the wolves were brilliantly executed and created a realistic vision of what a giant angry wolf should look like they seemed to struggle with the green screen in the more simpler scenes, whatch it and you'll know what I mean.
Sparkling Edward is back (didn't look good the first time and the second round is no better) and he's brought a friend who my sister like to call "Eggward".
This is probably the stupidest thing in the movie, in the fight with the Volturi Edwards gets slammed to the ground and his cheek forms a crack in it only for it to heal seconds later, I have one question, why? Skin that looks and feels like marble, check, skin that cracks and then magically seals itself back together, err no.

Last but not least the make-up, who the hell decided to make The Cullens look so scary? The super white foundation that kinda makes the look a little grey, the super red lips, and the freaky orange contacts they wear, it's like they looked at Twilight and kicked it up a notch and not in a good way.

Enough of the bad parts and on to the good parts.

The breakup scene was perfect, they really couldn't have done a better job, so were all the scenes with the wolves and the scene in the cinema.
Ashley Green's perfomance as Alice was spot on, (it always is) and Taylor Lautner was excellent as Jacob (and not just because he looks amazing).
The Volturi were just as I'd immagined them to be, very creepy and Jane is the scariest of them all.

All in all I prefer Twilight but I can't say I'm suprised, New Moon is also my least favourite book out of the saga but I was hoping the movie would change my mind.

One thing that did surprise me is that by the end of the movie I'd swapped teams, I've always very much been Team Edward all the way, I've read all 4 books and always felt Bella was better suited to him but having watched New Moon I've swapped my vote to Team Jacob.
So I'm gonna end this with a question.
Which team are you and as it changed after watching New Moon?

Illamasqua Christmas Gifts!

Christmas is approacing fast, there's little more than 3 week left and I've barely even started doing my shopping. I've had trouble deciding what to get people as there's so much out there too choose from and what I love isn't always gonna be what everyone else likes.
When it comes down to picking out the perfect perfume or cosmetics gift for someone it's even harder, however I think you would have an hard time finding someone who wouldn't apreciate what Illamasqua as on offer this year.

I know I'm probably late with this and most of you may have already saw them but they were only brought to my attention a few days ago and I immidiately fell in love with all of them.

The Limited Edition Christmas Boxes are gorgeous, I like them both and would make an excellent present for anyone. I like that both of the kits can be tailored to each individual to create a simple daytime look by using the pigment and liner or kicked up a notch for the evening by including the liquid metal and lashes.

The Gold Goddess box contains Liquid metal in Solstice, Pure Pigment in Furore, False Lashes in 19 and the Medium Pencil in Sophie.

The Silver Seductress box contains Liquid metal in Phenomena,Pure Pigment in Android, False Lashes in 19 and the Medium Pencil in Sophie.

With each sale of these boxes Illamasqua donates £3 to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation so your helping a good cause.
For more information please visit www.sophielancasterfoundation.com

Another thing that I'm absolutely loving are the new Limited Edition Birthday Lashes, these are without a doubt the most glam lashes I've ever come across and are perfect for the party season.
They are expensive but if well cared for they should last ages, deffinitley one to put on my wish list.

The Opulence Lashes - Gold Crystals

The Decadence Lashes - Silver Crytals

Last but not least are the Pantomime Nail Duos, these are a set of two polishes that compliment each other, one is a rich solid base color the other a glitter to be worn on top.

Boo!/Baptiste - Violet/Blue Glitter

Hiss!/Boosh - Red/Pink/Gold Glitter

New Moon - The Wait Is Almost Over

I cannot tell everyone how much I've been looking forward to New Moon, I've literally been counting down the days and driving everyone nuts about it,
it came out this Friday but I haven't had the chance to watch it yet becuse of work so I'll be going with my sister on Tuesday evening and I cannot contain my excitment.
I've already seen the reviews and they all pretty much say it's better than Twilight, I absolutely loved Twilight in both book and movie form but the New Moon book still remains my least favourite in the series so I'm intrigued to see how the film as turned out.
The trailers look amazing especially the scenes with the wolves, Taylor Lautner looks amazing and the special effects look a lot better than last time, anyone remember glittering Edward?
I hate the way they have one the Cullens make-up, I know they are vampires and they are supposed to be pale but they are literally whiter than white, they actually look like they are dead which kinda defeats the purpose since they are supposed to blend in with the real world.
As opposed to looking amazingly beautiful they kinda look a little scary and the too red lips don't help either, it just makes them look like they have windburn.
Bad make-up aside I'm still very much looking forward to Tuesday.

New Skincare Routine!

For the past couple of months my skin as been breaking out like crazy. I usually get the odd pimple here and there but they generally go away pretty quickly, but I've been getting almost constant breakouts and to make the matter worse they are the cystic kind which are painful and take ages to heal, not helped by the fact that I tend to squeeze and pick at them making it worse.

I think I've finally (fingers crossed) found a routine that works for me and the best part is they are all inexpensive products. I seem to have had the best results with natural and organic brands as opposed to the ones that are full of chemicals I can't even pronounce.

I first decided to try Mario Badescu's Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, Drying Cream and Drying Mask as I've heard such good things, unfurtunatly they made my skin worse.

Mario Badescu

The Drying Mask is awful, it dried my skin out to the point of flaking and give me a huge cystic pimple, I can still slightly feel it under my skin and it happened 4 weeks ago. Add the repulsive gag worthy smell and you have one complete waste of £17.50, honestly how can anyone love this stuff?
Drying Cream is okay, it doesn't make my skin any worse but it doesn't particularly help it either, it does reduce redness a little but I haven't figured out if that's down to the ingredients or the fact that it has a slight tint.
The Glycolic Foaming Cleanser is okay and I'm still using it occasionally but I've used other glycolic cleansers in the past that have worked miles better than this one.
All in all it's leason learned, this is the second time I've tried Mario Badescu and it's clear to me the whole range doesn't suit my skin type.

With Mario Badescu being a total failure I decided to take the less is more aproach and limit my routine to these 3 products.

Photobucket

The Clearasil Skin Perfecting Wash is actually quite good but it's a cream wash and not a foam which I prefer, it does it's job of cleansing but I find I end up with a slight residue which I have to remove with toner.
It hasn't broken me out yet and I actually like to mix this with a little sugar to make a quick but very effective exfoliant.
Boots Botanics Organic Rosewater Toner is the best toner in the whole wide world, I absolutely adore it and works wonders on my skin to calm it down and leave it soft and smooth. I find it really helps calm my skin.
The Clean & Clear Oil Free Dual Action Moisturiser is another product I wish I hadn't bothered with, doesn't moisturise and does nothing in terms of spot fighting. I think it's possibly the most useless product I've ever come across so I'm glad it was cheap and not to much of a waste of money.

Then the other week I was in Holland & Barrets and came across a range called dr.organic, they had a buy one get one half price offer on so I decided to pick up a few items.

drorganic

I got the Manuka Honey Rescue Cream, Vitamin E Pure Oil, Pomegranate Anti-Aging Cream and Pomegranate Advance Recovery Eye Cream.
I'm gonna be doing a full review soon when I've had a chance to test the product for longer but while I absolutely adore the Manuka Honey Rescue Cream and use it every day as a day cream I had to exchange the Pomegranate items as they made my skin red and itchy, I got a backup of the honey cream and I decided to try the Vitamin E Super Hydrating Cream.
I really do like the concept of the whole range, 100% Organic natural ingredients, free of harsh chemicals, no mineral oil to clog your pores and most importantly not tested on animals, I'm hoping my skin won't break out with repeted use.

Another thing I picked up while at Holland and Barrets is Glycolic Acid Skin Renewal Cream, and I think this is what as really been helping my skin.

Glicolic Acid Cream

I've used glycolic based products for the past five years, the two brands I've used are Glytone which worked initially but then broke me out and Alpha H which I still love but I have trouble finding the larger size bottles and refuse to buy the smaller ones as they work out expensive.
This cream was £4.99 so if it doesn't work for me then at least I haven't wasted too much money, but so far so good. I use it only at night and in the morning my skin is so soft and glowy and perfectly even, I don't need to use so much foundation and my skin doesn't get as oily during the day.

In addition to the above I will occasionally still use the classic Nivea Creme if my skin is extra dry and as soon as I'm out of all my cleansers I'll be switching to the Boots Botanics Organic Cleansing Balm, I really hope the search for perfect skin is over.

October: The Good and The Bad

I'm sorry everyone but I haven't had much of a chance of updating my blog this month, I've been busy with work and haven't felt like doing much of anything when I get home.
At the start of October I'd put myself on a no-buy and that didn't really go to plan, I still bought new things but not as many, I am trying really hard to buy less and I've decided that I'm gonna put a lot of the stuff I don't use very often up for sale.

The Good

MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator and Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask - I've been using these quite a lot this month and I love how soft they make my skin feel, I love the warming effect that the mask gives.
Bare Escentuals Foundation - the only foundation I like using when my skin as broken out and since my skin as been awful the past month I've been using this every day.
Korres Monoi Bronzer - I like this bronzer more than NARS Laguna, I got the darker shade of the two and it doesn't look orange or muddy with a very subtle shimmer.
Benefit Coralista - I got this a while ago, used it a couple of times, loved it but then forgot about it. Then I was looking for a coral/gold blusher and remembered I had this and fell in love with it all over again, I've literally used it every day for the past 2 weeks.
L'Oreal Lash Serum - I'm still loving this but I only feel it adds volume and not lenght.
MAC Lipstick in Angel, Creme D'Nude and Creme Cup - I love these shades anyways but I've been wearing them non stop this month.
Lush Big Shampoo - Love the volume it gives and the fact that the shine I get from it isn't down to silicones.

The Bad

My Skin - I've broken out really badly lately and I don't know what to do to get it to calm down.
I'm now trying a Clearasil cleanser, Clean and Clear moisturiser and Sudocreme as a spot treatment, fingers crossed it will work.
Mario Badescu Drying Mask and Drying Cream - Bought these as I'd read they were good for broken out skin but they did nothing more than make it dry and give me two huge new cystic spots on my cheeks.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Haul!

I've not broken my make-up no buy, I got this before I imposed that rule on myself, It just took a while for the stuff to get to me cause they were out of stock on one item.

Rouge Bunny Rouge can be purchased at Zuneta.com and as been featured on quite a few blogs lately and every ones opinion is pretty much the same, amazing quality products but a little too pricey and I have to agree, I would not have purchased anything at all if it wasn't for the 20% off code that they had last month.
First of all let me take a moment and say that Zuneta customer service is brilliant, I didn't get an order conformation email but I did get one to say that one of my items were out of stock and they were waiting for it to be available again.
When it was back in stock I got an actual phone call from a real person to tell my my order had shipped out that day and that I should receive it the next day, that in itself is amazing as usually a lot of these Internet based companies will only contact you by email.
The products came packaged in a cute box with a ribbon and my good were wrapped in pretty purple tissue paper, again not necessary but a nice touch and they were generous with the samples.
Out of the stuff I got I loved most of it but as with any make-up you buy of the Internet sometimes the colors in real life can be completely different to what you were expecting them to be, this was no exception but really it's no problem at all as Zuneta will let you return any item your not happy with as long as you haven't used it.

Photobucket

GWP of Korres Fig Body Butter and Guava Lip Butter and samples of Hourglass Superficial Lash Mascara and Veil Oil Free Mineral Primer which by the way is amazing and I will definitely be purchasing a full size.

Seas Of Illumination Highlighting Liquid in Sea Of Tranquility, I've not tried this yet as I've been having skin issues and shimmer makes spots look worse, funny thing is I went to swatch the product and the pump is broken, I can't get it out the bottle no matter how many times I press down, I'll have to call them tomorrow.
Hues Of Enchantment Color Burst Lipstick in Know What Lies Are For, a nice basic caramel nude shade, nothing special in color but the formula of these lipsticks is really nice, light on the lips but long lasting and not drying.
Hues Of Enchantment Color Burst Lipstick in Word Of Mouth, again a pretty color but not particularly unique, too much of a soft red to create real impact but I guess that makes it very wearable.
Succulence Of Dew Sheer Lipstick in Fluttering Sighs, OMG do I absolutely love this lipstick! It's the most perfect peach shade shot trough with this lovely golden shimmer, this is the color I was searching for a few months back and couldn't find. This is one of those lipstick that if I should ever finish this tube I would re-purchase immediately.
When Bird Are Singing Long-Lasting Eye Shadow in Unforgettable Oriole, a pale golden flesh toned shadow that makes the perfect all over wash of color as well as an highlighter, kinda reminds me of Stila Kitten.
When Bird Are Singing Long-Lasting Eye Shadow in Delicate Hummingbird, a gorgeous smoky amethyst shade that blends like butter, actually all of the eye shadow seem to blend with very little effort these are the one item from RBR that I would recommend and think they are worth the £22 price tag.
When Bird Are Singing Long-Lasting Eye Shadow in Volcano Fairy-Wren, looks like any other sparkly black shade at first but it's actually more of a charcoal shade with very fine shimmer, I could actually get rid of all my other black/charcoal shadows an just keep this one and I would be perfectly happy.
Sweet Excesses Glassy Gloss in Crisp Sorbet, I love the lasting power of this gloss and the feel of it on my lips, quite thick but more of a balm texture, the color is pretty but not very pigmented, I still like it a lot tough.

Swatches

Photobucket

Things I got and have to send back: a lipstick in Inscribed In Sheets as it's too similar too Know What Lies Are For, a Glassy Gloss in Frappe Forever and a Lip Gloss in Coy cause I have something similar and the Lip Potion and one of the Decadent Duos cause they are way too small in size for the price I paid for them that I simply refuse too keep them.

I do recommend you all check this brand out, especially the eye shadows, I personally will buy again from Rouge Bunny Rouge but only if there's a discount code going. I will definitely use Zuneta again, they carry Korres which I adore and I wanna try more from Hourglass.

Benefit FREE Powderflage Offer!

Benefit have an amazing offer at the moment were if you buy two product you get a FREE full size Powderflage Powder Concealer, amazing considering it retails at £19.50.
I needed to return some perfume I'd bought to many back-ups of so I decided to turn my refund into an exchange, I got Hoola Bronzing Powder and a Velvet Eye Shadow in Fawn Over Me.

Photobucket

Hoola is a matte bronzer completely devoid of even the slightest hint of orange, it's actually the most flattering shade of bronzer I've come across but I find it streaks on me and it's hard to blend.
I have a feeling it's cause of the foundation I'm using and not because of the actual product it's self, I''ll be putting it to test with other foundations and report back.
Fawn Over Me is a nice light taupe with a slight gold base to it, it pretty but not particularly unique. The formula is gorgeous, very smooth and buttery and the pigmentation is amazing.
I haven't tried the Powderflage yet but I've heard good reviews, having said that my sister uses it and said it's nothing special but she's not a lover of powders in general.
I have a similar product from Bare Escentuals and actually really like it, so we shall see.

MAC Style Black, DSquared & Dazzleglass Creme Haul

My small collective MAC Haul, I would have bought more but I'm trying to cut down on the spending.
I've included swatches this time.

MAC Style Black

Volcanic Ash Exfoliator
Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask
Greasepaint Stick in Black
Glimmerglass in Blackfire
Dazzleglass Creme Creme Allure
Lipstick in Nude Rose
Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline

MAC Style Black Swatches

From top to bottom:

Greasepaint Stick in Black
Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline
Glimmerglass in Blackfire
Dazzleglass Creme Creme Allure
Lipstick in Nude Rose

MAC Style Black, DSquared2 and Dazzleglass Creme

Like I said in my last MAC release/review post I've been disappointed with the collections they have been putting out lately, nothing as really grabbed my attention and it's all been boring and unoriginal.
I knew by just looking at the promo images of Style Black that I would absolutely love it and that I would end up getting a few things, black is one of my favourite colors and I absolutely love the way MAC as managed to create an entire collection based on it.
DSquared2 is nice but most of it is repromotes and as for Dazzleglass Creme I could have past on it entirely and not cared.
Trend F/W09 and Zoom Fast Black Lash haven't been realeased yet in the UK so I can't give my opinion on those.

Anyways on to the actual collection breakdown:

Style Black

I loved most of this collection and if it hadn't have been for the fact that I've bought so much make-up lately I would have got more, even my sister loved it and she's hard to impress.

The eye stuff is gorgeous but I passed on most of it as they were other thing that had to take priority, I really liked the mineralize eye shadows, very sparkly and quite pigmented, the Cream Color Bases are pro items so I can get them at a later date if I want to, Smolder eye Kohl is permanent, the Penultimate eye liner is rubbish as it dries out real fast so the only thing I got is the GreasePaint Stick. I've only tried it on the back of my hand so far and I love the texture, it's so creamy it just glides on however I don't know yet how well it will wear and if it will crease or not, we shall see.

The lipsticks were all very bold and as much as I whish I could wear black on the lips I know I wouldn't be able to pull it off, the sister wanted Night Violet but by the time I went back to get it it had sold out :(
I was kinda dissapointed with the Glimmerglass, I got Blackfire and while I love the fact it's sheer I was expecting the shimmer to show up more and the nail polishes were nice but again I passed on them as I have laods.

The standout of the collection is the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator and Thermal Mask, I actually like MAC skincare in general as I find it's very basic and doesn't aggrevate my skin and these are no exeption. The exfoliator is very nice, the particles are quite large but I don't find they tear my skin or leave it raw like some do and it does leave skin feeling very smooth. The mask heats up when it touches damp skin, it does get quite warm and it's almost like you can feel it sucking up all the dirt and oil out of your pores. I've found they are a little drying but as long as I put my moisturised on afterwards it's okay, the only thing I'm not keen on is the scent, I can't even think of what it smells like but I can't say I'm keen. I got two of each as I wanted to stock up but I've had to give a set to my sister as she wanted them too but forgot to tell me to pick some up for her on release day and they have now sold out.

DSquared2

A nice collection but I would have prefered less repromotes, I only got Nude Rose lipstick and a backup of Feline Kohl Power eye pencil.
The Greasepaint Sticks were nice but if you get the one from Style Black you don't need the others in my opinion.
I hated the Sculpt and Shape powders the first time round and I still don't like them, there are better products out there to shade and highlight your face.
The 165 Tapered Cheek/Highlight brush is one of my favourites and for me it's a must have and so is the Feline Eye Kohl, I love how dark it is and it smudges really nicely if you want a smokey look, infact this one is a back-up.
I liked both of the lipsticks but I had to limit myself to one, I got Nude Rose and it's pretty but nothing special and quite sheer actually, Blood Red is actually more pink and again not particularly unique.
The Tinted Lip Conditioner and Clear Gloss are permanent and so is the Lip Erase even if only at the Pro Store.

Dazzleglass creme

These are supposed to be a creamier version of the regular dazzleglass, however I just find them to be too thick and heavy and while I love sticky glosses(cause they last longer) these are way to tacky.
Looking on the MAC website there were at least 4 that I had my eye on but when I looked at them in person the only one I liked was Creme Allure, a bright blue based pink that goes on quite sheer, pretty but the texture is awful and mine came with a dodgy brush.
I could have easily passed on this collection.

September: The Good and The Bad

I cannot believe September is already over and that it's only 11 week away until Christmas, time as literally flown by. I've been loving quite a lot this month and I've been enjoying wearing darker color more fitting for the Autumn.

The Good

Creme de La Mer - I know Nivea Creme supposed to be similar and they do both moisturise really well but the La Mer version as the added benefit of making my skin look radiant and fades acne scars.
Revlon Colorstay in Buff - The best drugstore foundation I've ever tried, similar to MAC Studio Fix Fluid but better cause it doesn't break me out and as a nicer smell.
MAC Eye Shadows in Satin Taupe and Shroom - When I'm pushed for time I'll use Satin Taupe all over the lid and Shroom as an highlight, it's simple but effective and the look I get the most compliments on.
L'Oreal Lash Serum - I've only been using this for just over a week and I feel my lashes are looking a little fuller, might just be my imagination tough.
Urban Decay Eye Lash Primer Potion - Hands Down the best lash primer I've ever used, it makes my lashes look longer and fuller and it doesn't dry them out.
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black - I wish I had discovered this sooner, this combined with the above lash primer gives the most amazing false lash effect.
Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Katie - I'm surprised how much I love this, it's a very soft pale pink and it gives me the perfect flush of color on the cheeks.
By Terry Baume De Rose - When I originally bought this I thought it was nice but too expensive however I've found myself using this over any other lip treatment and I will be re-purchasing the second it runs out.
Illamasqua Lipstick in Avenge - This is part of the new Dystopia collection and it's the brightest neon pink in existence, I absolutely adore it.
Revlon Super lustrous Lipstick in Cherries in the Snow - Fabulous pink based red that's very wearable and the lasting power is better than MAC.
Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss in Rouse - I've been reaching for this non stop, it's perfect on it own for a sheer pink tint but it also looks amazing over pink and red lipstick.
MAC Cremesheen Glass in Partial To Pink & Petite Indulgance - I hated these glosses when they first came out but for some reason I love them now, they are light and not sticky and feel really moisturising on the lips.
Nails Inc The Hills Collection in Rodeo Drive - The most gorgeous dark teal shade that I've worn non stop for the past couple of weeks.

The Bad

Urban Decay Primer Potion - Going back to UDPP as made me realise I much prefer Too Faced Shadow Insurance as it makes eye shadow go on a lot smoother. UDPP is so drying and it makes any color you put on top of it dull and flat.
Facial Cleanser - I've got a few on the go at the moment but I'm finding them all to harsh and drying.

Haul Time!

I'm supposed to be doing project 10 pan however because I know I'll be picking some stuff up from MAC Style Black I'm not taking it very seriously.

I promise once Thursday is over I'm putting myself on a make-up no-buy for the whole month, in addition to what I got today I waiting on a Body Shop and a Rouge Bunny Rouge order but that will be it.

Photobucket

Lush Big Shampoo - I've had this before and I liked the volume and shine it gave my hair.
Lush Vanilla In The Mist Soap - smells like a vanilla latte.
Lush Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar - I thought I'd give this one a try over my usual New Shampoo Bar.
Lush Celestial Moisturiser Sample - my face as been terribly dry and irritated so I'm gonna try this and see what it does for me.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist - to keep in my bag as a quick burst of moisture during the day.
The Body Shop Strawberry and Cocoa Butter Body Butters - I like the little mini one as they are good for keeping in my bag (and because I never finish a large pot) and they are currently on buy one get one half price.
The Body Shop samples of Love Etc... perfume and the Aloe day and night creams.

Photobucket

Stocked up on a few essentials (okay I could have done without them) while Boots still as their 3for2 offer.
L'oreal Lash Serum
L'Oreal Double Extension Renewal Serum Mascara
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo, conditioner and mask.
Maybelline Color Sensational in Coral Pop.
Maybelline Superstay 18 Hour Wear in #425 Power Peach.
Maybelline Superstay Power Gloss in Satin Glow.

By Terry and EOS

By Terry Palette in Lame Emerald - beautiful palette but expensive.
EOS Organic Lip Sphere in Honeysuckle/Honey Dew - 100% natural and 95% organic, I'm impressed.

Photobucket

NARS Douceurs de Paris Palette - absolutely gorgeous and all of the colors are very wearable.
NARS Mekong Shadow Single - I've wanted this since I first saw it but have been forgetting to pick it up when I've been at a counter.
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Gobi, they originally matched with the shade Mont Blanc but it was to pink this one is yellow and matches me perfect.

My first FOTD!

I would have done these sooner but I'm photo phobic and never look decent in any, consequently it took about a 100 snaps to actually find one I was okay with.

The first look was from last week and I was really pleased with how it turned out, IRL the eyes looked a lot more shimmery and sparkly.

Latest Haul

This will be my last haul till MAC's Style Black collection which I'm super excited about.
I've put myself on Project 10 Pan but to be honest I'll be cheating if I haven't finished it in time for Style Black's release which I believe is the 1st of October, so far I've finished one product, lame I know.
I'm also thinking of doing a blog sale, I have tons of make-up (mainly MAC) which as barely been used and I'm sick of seeing it lying around, quite a bit of it is LE or hard to find, everyone let me know if you think I should.

Boots as a 3for2 deal on all of their cosmetics at the moment so I picked up a few things I had been meaning to try for a while.

Photobucket

Revlon Colorstay in 150 Buff, wish I had tried this sooner, fab inexpensive foundation.
L'oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss, perfect for when your in a rush as it's easy to get a steady line.
L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black, I actually bought 3 of these. It actually does give a false lash effect and it does it better than YSL Faux Cils.
Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout, nice matte lipstick that doesn't dry out my lips.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Va Va Violet, the color to be seen in this Autumn/Winter and a cheaper dupe of MAC's Faultlessly F/W.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherries In The Snow, a gorgeous red with a pink undertone, very wearable but at the same time very glamorous.
L'Oreal Renewal Lash Serum, I've only been using this for about a week and I feel my lashes look fuller already just make sure you don't get the product in your eye (like I did) cause it will sting like nothing else.

Photobucket

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Light 2 Mont Blanc, not sure I've been matched correctly with this one. I have a yellow to neutral complexion and this shade is pink based and while it looked good under the department store lights I find in natural daylight I look a little flushed.

Illamasqua Haul

I placed two separate order with Illamasqua, one for items I've had on my wish list for a while and the other for the Dystopya collection when it became available. I've had them for a couple of weeks now so I know I'm late posting this but I haven't had the time.
While I love most of the items I ordered, I have issues with the pigmentation of the eye shadow, they just won't stick to my skin and they go on patchy and I've tried every base and primer I own.
Same problems with the new pure pigments, I get terrible fallout and the pigmentation is poor however I can just about get those to work by applying a MAC Cream Color Base first and then patting the pure pigment on top, still it requires extra time and effort in the morning that I haven't got.
What I'm most disappointed in is I contacted Illamasqua about this issue and they never got back to me which is kinda bad, I spent quite a bit with them the past couple of months and their products aren't cheap, I expect intense color payoff not a sheer wash of color.
I might give them a couple more days and resend the e-mail in case they didn't get it.

On to the actual haul then:

Cream Blusher in Sob
Cream Eye Shadow in Touch

Eye Liner Cake in Mislead
Pure Pigment in Furore

MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics,Nail TrendF/W09, Flirt With Fall & In High Def

For the past few month all MAC as done is dissapoint me. Every collection they have released as lacked originality on both the products and promo images, nothing seems to grab my attention and I don't get excited about the new releases anymore.

The 4 new latest collections are no acception and out of the 4 things I bought I'm regretting 3.

Make-Up Art Cosmetics - an incredibly large collection and the one that I hated the most, this one as been hyped up for month and for me it was a complete let down, a lot of the product just felt cheap and lacked pigmentation others were just plain boring.
The eye shadow quads are nice but nothing special, if your new to MAC they are a good investment as they are cheaper than buying 4 single shadows, In The Gallery
(the purple one) was my favourite but I have tons of similar colors so I passed.
The individual eye shadows have poor pigmentation and appear dusty, I have Violet Trance and Haunting from previous releases and never reach for them, the Technakohl Liners just look awful to me and I'd rather stick to my Urban Decay 24/7 pencils.
The lip products for me were just boring and safe and same goes for the cheek products.
The only thing that intrested me were the glitters and the pigments. I loved the look of the glitters, especially the Fuchsia and the Gold but I didn't get them, I very rerely use glitter so getting a full jar of those 2 would be a complete waste of money plus they aren't eye safe.
I got 3 of the pigments; Cocomotion which is a beautiful dirty gold shade and very wearable, Push The Edge which is a deep violet/purple shade and Brash & Bold which is a pink based red. Now while I actually do love Push The Edge and Brash & Bold I know I will never use them up as a little of these two goes a long way so I am regretting buying them, Cocomotion on the other hand will get a lot of use and it's the one item everyone should get.

Nail Trend F/W09 - not much to say about this one as I hete the formulation of MAC polishes as I find they go on streaky and chip easily. Cool Reserve is really pretty (and now sold out) but not worth the money so I will be looking for a dupe.

Flirt With Fall - a collection dedicated to false lashes none of which are very wearable. I like my fake lashes to look somewhat natural, full but a reasonable lenght, these were just to over the top for me so I passed.

In High Def - the nicest collection out of the 4, well for me anyways. Yes it's mainly made up of permanent products but those products certainly don't dissapoint, I absolutely love the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural face powder, Face & Body foundation is a fantastic product if you can find the right shade and I love both my 187 and 188 for applying cream blusher.
The lipsticks are the only limited edition products of this collection and I actually did like 3 of the 4 but only got Close To Real which I now also regret, not because I don't like it but more because it actually resembles GOSH Darling and I have enough back-ups of that to last me a while.

I'm now a Brunette!

I no longer have red hair and I can say I'm much more happier with it being dark, the red was visably fading within two washes and the maintanance was too much.
It turned out darker than I anticipated but I'm actually glad it did, I think it really suits me, it matches my eyebrows and I can wear pretty much any color without worrying about it clashing.

Illamasqua Dystopia Bloggers Event

I know I'm a week late on this one and I'm very sorry, I've just been really stressed out at work and haven't had time to blog.
I'm sure you've all read about it on every other beauty blog so I'm not gonna ramble on for too long and I also forgot to bring my camera to the event so I have no pictures to show you.

The event took place at Ithaca Bar in Manchester, I got there a little to early and quite damp as it had started to rain outside and it took me a while to find the place (I walked past it 3 times). The decor of the place fitted in well with the Dystopia collection, very dark and edgy and most bloggers were already seated and playing with the new products.
They spoiled us with delicious canapes of sushi, satay skewers and tempura vegetables and the funkiest looking cocktails that were also delicious but very strong.
We watched a video presentation about the new collection followed by a short speech from Alex Box, I think, I couldn't really see properly as I'm short and there were a lot of taller people in front of me.
We then got introduced to a woman called Sylvia Lancaster, the mother of Sophie Lancaster who together with her boyfriend got beaten up for being a goth and later died because of her injuries.
She explained to us all what happened the night of the attack and how she set up The Sophie Lancaster Foundation and what it does.
I just can't believe how strong Sylvia is, it's hard enough to loose someone the normal "natural causes" way but the have someone taken away from you by selfish thugs and then have to live with it must be awful.
Illamasqua actually supports Sophie's charity by selling a Medium Pencil in Sophie and the S.O.P.H.I.E. Wrist Bands which stands for Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere.
After that Alex Box got to work on Mizz Worthy and created a fantastic smoky look on her, I was fascinated by the way she did her brows, they were amazing.
We were then given our goody bags which included one item from Dystopia (I got Machine eyeshadow) a poster and postcard a S.O.P.H.I.E. wrist band and the £20 to go towards travel expenses.

Photobucket

I made my way back to the train station with a bunch of other bloggers including Olivia from Olivia Cosmetics who happens to live in the same town as me.
Thank you Illamasqua for putting on this event.

Huge Collective Haul.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in the last week and half but I've been really stressed out at work and haven't been in the mood to do so, I still have to blog about the Illamasqua Dystopia event.
I've been spending again but in my defense most of this stuff as been bought with my staff discount so it's not that bad really, lol.

Yves Saint Laurent

Photobucket

Rouge Volupte #19 Frivolous Pink, apparently the more wearable version of Lingerie Pink, for me it nothing alike but still very pretty.
Rouge Volupte #2 Sensual Silk, a nice nude cream in the tube but orange on my lips, not a fan.
Both of these were FREE! cause they were bought with Boots Advantage points.#

Changing Haircolor... Again!

I dye my hair a lot, in the past year it's been light brown, dark brown, brown with highlights, caramel, blonde with higlights, bleach blonde, natural red, bright cherry red and my current color copper red.
While I love the red it's a pain to maintain, I can have it dyed one week and it will have faded the next and let me tell you faded red hair aint pretty.
I also find I clash with certain colors, baby pinks in particular which means my beloved YSL Lingerie Pink lipstick sits unused.
So I have an hair appointment tommorow to change my hair to a cool deep chocolate brown shade, it will be a nice change for the colder months and it won't fade all that much, best of all I can wear my pinks again.

August The Good and The Bad

I can't belive it's the end of August and summer is over even though the UK hasn't really had any good weather, before you know it Christmas will be here.
On the plus side all of the new Autumn/Winter makeup collections are being released and I'm excited for that.

The Good

MAC Cleanse Off oil, as been my favourite cleanser for the past few months and I'm almost out and looking for a replacement.
The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Clensing Facial Wash, only recently started using this but I'm loving it so far.
Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation, my new HG foundation, I want to try the cream version next.
MAC Eyeshadow in Blanc Type, Modest Tone, Dark Edge and Satin Taupe, I've been doing a lot of neutrals lately and these fit the bill perfectly.
Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glinth/Write, I've been loving this but it will probably get retired now were going into autumn as I generally don't use bronze shades when it gets colder.
Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Rude, I've worn this pretty much every day since I got it and I adore it.
Illamasqua Lipstick in Sonnet and Maneater, I love the texture and lastability of Illamasqua lipsticks and these two colors are fab.
Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in #112 Ambre Rose, this is my dupe for MAC Color Crafted lipstick.
MAC Mattene Lipstick in Kirsch, I've been wearing it dabbed on and mixed with a balm, it's very dark but perfect for autumn.
By Terry Baume De Rose, expensive but so moisturising and it give a pretty tint of color.
Barry M Nail Paint in Pink Flamingo, I've been wearing this every chance I get, it's the perfect pinky coral.
Boots Build Up Removal Shampoo, I've been suffering from awful product build up and my hair is lank and dull, one wash with this shampoo and my hair looks and feels healty again.
Marc Jacobs Lola Perfume, this is my new scent, it's sweet and heavy and the bottle alone is reason enough for me to get it.

The Bad

None, there's nothing this month that as dissapointed me enough to put it in this section.

Illamasqua Dystopia.

So as a lot of you have probably already seen Illamasqua is launching their Autumn/Winter callection and it gonna be called Dystopia.

The collection was inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1927 masterpiece ‘Metropolis’. This iconic film explored the civil unrest that was being felt by society in the 1920s, and translated it into a metaphorical futuristic urban city, a city of Dystopia – the opposite of Utopia – mysterious, edgy and sinister.

Illamasqua as been very nice and organized an event for all us bloggers to attend to and preview the collection in the flesh before it goes on sale.

The wonderful Alex Box is gonna be there which is gonna be amazing in it's self, she'll be doing a demonstation on the new products, including the fabolous new silver Liquid Metal called Phenomena.

I personally cannot contain my excitement, I've only just recently got into Illamasqua and I'm completely amazed at all their products so I'm really looking forward to seing the new collection and to meet all the other bloggers.

I've seen this on so many peoples blogs and I want to join in on the fun.

Shampoo: Label M Honey and Oat, cleanses gently and doesn't strip my hair of moisture.

Conditioner: Label M Honey and Oat, nice for damaged hair like mine and it smells amazing. Cibu Miso Knotty as a light conditioner and detangler.

Styling Products: Wella SP Hdro Milk, Kerastase Nectar Thermique, Matrix Biolage Smoothing Serum, Batiste Dry Shampoo and Aussie Volume and Gloss Hairspray.

Body Moisturiser: I don't often use one but when I do I like it to be Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt.

Deodorant: Mitchum Powder Fresh, the only deodorant I will ever purchase.

Fake Tan: I don't use one as I don't like wating for it to dry and it never looks natural.

Cleanser: MAC Cleanse Off Oil followed by Elemis Sensitive Cleansing Wash. I will ocasionally use Garnier Pure Active Deep Pore Unclogging Wash just to use it up.
After I've fineshed the above I'll be switching to The Body Shops Seaweed deep Cleansing Facial Wash.

Exfoliator: Elemis Skin Buff and Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Clearing Scrub.

Primer: MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF50 or Gosh Velvet Touch Foundation Primer.

Foundation Brush: MAC 181 Kabuki.

Concealer: Not using one at the moment, Illamasqua's Rich Liquid Foundation is working just fine on it's own.

Blusher: Illamasqua Rude, I've been wearing this almost constantly since I got it.

Bronzer: Illamasqua Glint/Writhe, the best bronzer I've tried as it doesn't look orange or muddy on me.

By Terry Baume De Rose Review

I bought this after reading about it on lollipop26's blog, she gave it the most glowing review and said it was an absolute favourite of hers.
I'm easily persuaded so I spent the £30.34 to get me my own pot.

By Terry Baume De Rose

I've been using it for about a month now and while I like the product and will use it all up I don't think it's a must have but more of a nice luxury.

First of all I love the smell, it a fairly strong sweet rose scent but it's not to overpowering so if your not a fan of floral or you are scent-sensitive you may want to give this a miss.
The color is also gorgeous, a light baby pink but when applied to the lips it as this cool violet iridescence that makes lips look plumper and the pigmentation more even.
Texture is light and not greasy and it really does moisturise well, if I apply this before bedtime I find by morning my lips are nicely prepped for lipstick however I tend to use this more on it's own, as a lipgloss in place of lipstick or under matte lipsticks to give a little slip.

By terry Baume De Rose

The only negative thing I can say about this product is the packaging, it glass so it's easily breakable and the lid on mine is coming apart, which is not impressive considering how expensive this product is.

If you have a spare £31 lying about this is a nice balm to have however it's not essential, I love my The Body Shop Yes Yes Yes Tantalising lip Butter just as much and it's only £5 and all the profits go to charity.

Twilight: Is anyone else looking forward to New Moon?

I can berely wait so much so that I've watched all the trailers a million times, spent hours looking at pictures, re-watched the 1st movie, played the soundtrack on repeat and I've even done my make-up like Bella's and worn the same color lipstick as the Cullens (Benefits Ms. Behaving if your wondering however I don't have that yet so I'm making do with MAC's Kirsch mixed with balm).
I can honestly say I'm counting down the days until New Moon is released and I'll be there first in the que on the 27th of November, I'll even go as far as request that day off work, nothing is stopping me from watching it.
Anyone else feel the same way?
